Geary County is located in central Kansas. It is named for John W. Geary, a governor of Kansas Territory.
The seat and largest city are both Junction City. Fort Riley, a major Army base is located in the county.
The county borders Riley, Wabaunsee, Morris, Dickinson and Clay Counties.
Main highways through the county include I-70, US-40, US-77, K-18 and K-57.
